Frisbee Competition 2007
It was our first Inter-Unit Frisbee Competition for us Secondary 3 cadets, which was held at Chestnut Drive Secondary School on 9th March 2007, at 2.30pm. We had practised playing Frisbee among ourselves a few days before the day of the competition to get ourselves prepared. Three groups were involved, consisting of the boys team, the girls team and the mixed team, each with six players and one reserve.
We falled in at 1.45pm, bringing along our water bottles and EZ-link cards for identification. Two NCOs and our TO, Mr. Neo, went along with us to give us support. We boarded the bus and left the school at 2.10pm and made our way to the venue. Upon reaching there, we verified ourselves and headed for the site of the competition, which was at the field, near to the parade square. Several schools were already there when we arrived. Warm-up practises were carried out in the parade square to get ourselves ready.
First up was the boys team match against Yio Chu Kang Secondary and we boys headed into the field. Our squadmates, NCOs, and our TO were there cheering for us, for every match. We won the first round against them, 3:0, gaining us 6 points. Later an announcement was made, that two schools were not present and so it was a walkover for our boys team. We went straight to the semi-finals, without having to battle it out in the qualifying round and quarter finals. We were relieved yet a little unsatisfied for such an easy win. Even so, our hopes were raised in getting a trophy for the school.
The mixed team and girls team did their very best as well, advancing far into the competition.
In the end, though none of the BPGHS team managed to clinch top spot for their respective divisions, we still managed to claim the
overall Champion’s Trophy. This feat could never be achieved if not for competitive spirit and determination of all the teams. Both the boy’s and mixed team were second best to Cranberry Secondary and Choa Chu Kang Secondary respectively. Meanwhile, the girl’s team got third spot.
On the whole, we felt
satisfied by our achievement. It was our maiden year in the Inter- Unit Frisbee Competition but still we showed everyone our team spirit and unity. As a result, we managed to overcome all odds and brought back the overall Champion’s Trophy. Though, we have to concede that we got a all long to go if we want to challenge the technical abilities of schools such as Canberra Secondary School. Nevertheless, we did our best and are satisfied with out results.
